The controversial not proven verdict is set to be scrapped in courts across Scotland.
Proposed reforms to the justice system will see a major shake-up as the bill to abolish the third verdict has now been published, with a number of changes to the justice system outlined.
Currently in Scotland, there are three verdicts - guilty, not guilty and not proven - with the third verdict having the effect of acquitting the accused.
