Controversial plans to introduce a new 20mph default speed limit in communities could save Wales £100m in the first year alone, new research suggests.
The Welsh Government announced plans earlier this year to introduce a default 20mph speed limit on restricted roads across Wales in September 2023. Restricted roads include those with street-lights and are usually located in residential and built-up areas with high pedestrian activity.
Now the Welsh Government has released research claiming the 20mph limit could save Wales millions as a direct result of fewer deaths and injuries.
