The Seahawks face more quarterback drama this offseason, but hopefully it is a hurdle that they can quickly clear. Quarterback Geno Smith just completed one of the best seasons in Seattle’s history, and he picked the right time to do so.
Smith is up for a new contract, and it would seem in the interests of both sides to keep him in Seattle … for the right price, that is.
Fortunately, Smith seems to be fairly optimistic — at the moment — with how contract negotiations have gone.
Geno Smith told @SiriusXMNFL today that contract talks with the Seahawks are underway and that the prospects of reaching a deal are "looking very good." He also commented on his contract situation in an appearance on @thepivot Podcast. https://t.co/SyNn4m9qXK

Earlier this week, Brady Henderson suggested a potential three-year, $90 million deal with $50 million guaranteed. Such a deal would surely be fair for Smith’s wallet while not trapping the Seahawks financially from accomplishing their goals to improve the team.
Here’s hoping both sides can find a solution before the Seahawks are embroiled in another lengthy quarterback contract dispute like they’ve had before.
