If you’ve been following us — or any Ohio State beat site for that matter — then you already know that the Buckeye football program recently announced some nonconference additions to the home football schedule down the road.
OSU will host Marshall on September 21, 2024, Nevada on September 1, 2029, and Charlotte on September 8, 2029. Those aren’t exactly games that will get Buckeye Nation in a lather to see, but they are important games to fill out some home dates nonetheless.
When some of non-Power Five nonconference teams come to the ‘Shoe to basically get flummoxed and beaten, they are given a payday to make it worth their while, and that’s exactly what happened in the case of these three games.
According to reporting from Eleven Warriors based upon contracts the site obtained through a public records request, Marshall will receive $1.6 million, while both Nevada and Charlotte will each be paid $1.8 million. Payouts must occur by February 28 the year following the contests.
