A Consett man has been jailed after he was found with a crossbow in Durham.
Kevin Conner Parker was intercepted by firearms officers after being spotted on CCTV with the weapon on Durham’s Riverside on the afternoon of November 19.
The 38-year-old hid the weapon in a sleeping bag in his wheelchair he had wrapped around him.

However, an eagle-eyed CCTV operator alerted officers to the suspicious behaviour and they quickly intercepted him.
Parker, of Briardale Avenue, Consett, was arrested and charged with possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.
At Durham Crown Court on January 11, he was sentenced to two years in prison along with another six months for breaching a previous suspended sentence for having a blade in a public place.
Neighbourhood Inspector for Durham City, Dave Clarke, said: “Thankfully no-one was hurt during this incident due to the quick response from both the CCTV operator and firearms officers.
“We will continue to work around the clock to keep the public safe and hope Parker considers his behaviour whilst in prison.”
