Conor McGregor warned he could get hurt if he doesn't accept "winnable" fight

Conor McGregor has been told by UFC champion Henry Cejudo to select a "winnable" fight upon his UFC return to ensure he doesn't get hurt.

The UFC star has recently made a return to training after breaking his leg in his trilogy-fight defeat by Dustin Poirier last summer. He is planning to make a comeback at 170lb having shown off a new ripped physique after ballooning to 190lb during his recovery.

Cejudo - who has been involved in a recent Twitter spat with McGregor - believes a fight with Tony Ferguson could be the most viable option for his return to the octagon. “I like the Tony Ferguson fight for him, I think that fight is winnable for Conor,” Cejudo said on a recent episode of The Triple C and Schmo podcast. “He cannot be taking these high-level competitions.

"He’s going to get hurt. I think, go up to Tony and then of course he’s a cash cow. Give him whoever he wants at 150 or 170. I think he needs to get his feet wet. At least f*****g win man, win a damn fight.”

McGregor has been involved in a fiery social media feud with Cejudo in recent weeks who has critiqued his boxing technique and called him out for a fight. The 33-year-old recently hit back at his rival's latest criticism in a lengthy rant while refusing to accept his advice. "God bless you. Hold on tight," McGregor tweeted. "I just want to crush the head not hold.

"I'll be there on bottom fighting 'evil' if I 'overthrow' my hips, over throw; nice word. Come back and hit a throw. Whatever after that, launch someone. Make the splash kiddo. You a fat mess the last 24. Truth."

Several potential opponents have called out McGregor during his time in recovery including Michael Chandler and Charles Oliveira. The UFC star accepted a fight with Chandler if it is staged at 170lb, but has also set his sights on division champion Kamaru Usman.

Upcoming UFC cards were leaked which showed McGregor is unlikely to return to the cage before August. Former champion Michael Bisping even suggested the 33-year-old will not return until next year after his recovery is complete.

However the UFC star has now teased a comeback on social media inviting his potential opponents to audition for a fight. He tweeted: " "If you want a knock off me step up and say your piece. I'm still picking who. Just kidding, I well know who. When. What weight. Where. How it goes. Everything. I see dead people.

He continued: "Tick tock, my left hand is glock, I am going to crush your skull in when I get you. Cave. Mac Daddy is back in action. My next fight is... My return date is..."
