Conor McGregor has shut down rumours of a potential UFC clash with featherweight king Ilia Topuria. Instead, the Irishman has revealed that he could face Jake Paul’s brother Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition fight in 2025 before his return to the octagon.
Conor McGregor Shuts Down Ilia Topuria Rumours
Despite having several problems outside of the octagon, Conor McGregor had made clear his intentions of returning to the fight game in 2025.
There have been rife rumours that McGregor could face Michael Chandler in a lightweight contest in the UFC next year, as well as some other opponents such as Dan Hooker and Justin Gaethje.
However, the latest rumours are that McGregor could fight UFC Featherweight Champion Ilia Topuria in 2025, given that ‘El Matador’ has all but confirmed his move up to 155-pounds.
Despite these rumours doing the rounds on social media this week, McGregor himself has denied then and totally shut down any talk of a fight with Ilia Topuria.
That being said, he has instead hinted at a potential fight with Jake Paul‘s brother Logan Paul. This would be a totally different avenue for the Irishman, who hasn’t featured in a boxing ring since his 2017 showdown with the great Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather Jr.
Conor McGregor has now taken to social media, revealing that his next fight could be against ‘The Maverick’ in India next year. Time will tell whether this is the case, but ‘Notorious’ seems keen.
The rumors of a bout with topurio are false. I am in preliminary agreements with the Ambani family to face Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition in India.
I have agreed.
I will then seek my return to the Octagon.— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) December 17, 2024
McGregor Teases Boxing Exhibition Fight With Logan Paul
Despite not fighting in the boxing ring for over seven years, Conor McGregor has teased a return to action. The Irishman has taken to social media this morning, announcing that he has agreed to fight Jake Paul‘s brother Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition fight in India.
Logan Paul himself also has some experience in the boxing ring, having also fought Floyd Mayweather before. He was last seen in action fighting Dillon Danis in October 2023, winning via DQ. Now, it seems the former YouTube icon turned WWE superstar could fight in the ring once again in 2025.
Tweeting on social media platform X, McGregor said: “I am in preliminary agreements with the Ambani family to face Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition in India. I have agree. I will then seek my return to the Octagon.”
It remains to be seen whether there is actually any substance to this tweet, or if McGregor is simply speculating. Time will tell, with UFC fans keen to see ‘Notorious’ back in the octagon as soon as possible. Not to mention UFC President Dana White, who has hinted at McGregor’s return several times in the past few years.
If the pair were to have a boxing fight, McGregor would undoubtedly go in as the favourite with the best boxing betting sites in the UK. That being said, Logan Paul is a lot bigger than the Irishman, and could use his superior size to his advantage.
