Conor McGregor has shut down Floyd Mayweather's plan for a rematch next year by claiming he is "not interested" in a second fight.
Mayweather stopped McGregor in 2017 to extend his unbeaten record to 50-0 before hanging up his gloves. He has since cashed in on his name by taking part in a lucrative exhibition bouts and will return to the ring this weekend against Mikuru Asakura.
But he revealed earlier today that he had set his sights on facing McGregor again next year - either in an exhibition or a professional fight. "I want to go out there this weekend and have fun, then I have another exhibition Dubai in November and me and Conor McGregor in 2023. We don't know if it's going to be an exhibition of a real fight. But there's been talks of both. I would prefer an exhibition," Mayweather told the Daily Mail.
"I am not into fights where I am going to take any real punishment. So, guys like Conor McGregor and guys that don't really hit hard such as YouTubers or UFC guys, I don't really mind colliding with those kinds of individuals but nothing where I am going to put myself in a position where I am going to harm myself or hurt myself."
But McGregor has now taken to Instagram to post a picture from his first fight with Mayweather along with the caption: "Not interested". He then posted another picture and tagged several of his brands and businesses in such a way so as to block Mayweather out.

McGregor is still recovering from the broken leg he suffered in his trilogy-fight defeat by Dustin Poirier last summer. He had planned to return this year but has yet to resume full training and has now taken time out to film his part in the remake of Road House, a 1998 film starring Patrick Swayze.
McGregor is likely to return to the cage in the first quarter of 2023 and could do so at welterweight having insisted he intends to win a world title in a third weight division. That could see him take on the winner of Leon Edwards' proposed rematch with deposed champion Kamaru Usman.
