Consider Conor McGregor impressed by what he saw from Jiri Prochazka at UFC 275.
Prochazka (29-3-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC) became the promotion’s light heavyweight champion Saturday by winning a grueling title fight against now-former champ Glover Teixeira at Singapore Indoor Stadium. It proved to be an instant classic filled with ups and downs for both men.
Teixeira was up on two judges’ scorecards heading into the fifth round and likely was leading the final frame when Prochazka managed to lock in a rear-naked choke that forced Teixeira to tap out with 28 seconds remaining.
On Sunday morning, McGregor, a former UFC two-division champion, sent “huge congrats” to Prochazka for his title win (via Twitter).
