Conor McGregor says he 'would love' to purchase Liverpool

Conor McGregor has taken to social media to reveal that he 'would love' to purchase Liverpool.

In the past couple of days, rumours have run rampant that Fenway Sports Group, the current owners of Liverpool, are thinking about selling the club. The club could command a fee of over €5 billion, which would be one of the biggest sporting deals in history.

It would take a person with quite a large bank account to be able to afford to buy the club and fund the team. One person that seems to be interested in the club is Conor McGregor, with the UFC star posting on Twitter that he has 'requested information' on the potential sale of the club.

In early October, McGregor claimed that he was a billionaire and wrote on Twitter "I'm a billi years."

When asked by a fan to buy The Reds, McGregor replied "I WOULD LOVE IT! I requested my information on this, yes. Soon as I heard. What a turn of events! What a club! @LFC ."

This isn't the first time that McGregor has commented on potentially buying a football team. Back in March, McGregor confirmed that he was interested in possibly making an offer on Celtic, Chelsea or Manchester United.

"All being explored. A football franchise purchase is in my future make no mistake about it.

"Everyday I ball. How wouldn’t I lead a team of young, dedicated athletes to glory. I’m perfect for the job. Pray it’s your team."

In the past McGregor has indicated that he supported Manchester United as a boy. In more recent times however, McGregor has declared his allegiance to Liverpool by confirming that he was rooting for the team in the 2022 Champions League final.

"You know, my family are Liverpool, I'm a supporter of Liverpool," he said before the final. "I'm a supporter of Real Madrid also. I hope for a great game but I'll have to go with the pool [Liverpool] for this one, I'll have to go for the pool."
