Conor McGregor is celebrating 10 years since his UFC debut this week but his first-ever opponent took an entirely different route.
McGregor is well on his way to join the short list of Irish billionaires as he conquered the UFC world and became the sport's biggest star, winning two titles in his time.
The Dubliner will return to action later this year against Michael Chandler but is not short of cash having sold his whiskey business for a nine-figure sum and has a number of different business interests including owning multiple pubs and his own stout.
McGregor will also make his film debut this year in the remake of Roadhouse which he stars alongside Hollywood Jake Gyllenhaal.
The Dubliner made his UFC debut on April 6, 2013 against Marcus Brimmage but his American opponent has since taken a very different career path after retiring from MMA.
Brimmage would fight eight times in the UFC and retired from MMA with a 7-8 record.
Since then Brimmage has competed in bare-knuckle fighting but also took part in a pillow fighting competition.
The American fell at the final hurdle in the competition, missing out on the $5,000 prize.
