Conor McGregor has continued to hit out at Irish comedian PJ Gallagher for his comments about the UFC star's nationality.
Gallagher, who is a radio host and stand-up comedian, reposted a tweet showing UFC broadcaster Laura Sanko mistakenly claim McGregor was a British fighter. The comedian took a shot at McGregor by captioning his post: "Normally this kind of thing winds me up but they can have this lad."
It is not the first time an Irish sports star has mistakenly been labelled as British and McGregor explained why he was so offended by Gallagher's follow-up comments. "One of the heaviest insults you can give an Irish man. He is a weasel," McGregor wrote whilst replying to a fan on Twitter.

One fan then told McGregor that he should make peace with Gallagher as it's the festive season, but the UFC star wasn't having any of it. "Why should I? He attempted to publicly rally people against me with a disgraceful insult and out of nowhere too, all while being an advocate for mental health in the press. It is the height of hypocrisy. I don’t know him. Never spoke on him once in my life," he said.
'Notorious' was labelled an "embarrassment " by fans for mocking Gallagher's mental health struggles in a now-deleted tweet. Gallagher spent three months at St Patrick's Mental Health Services in Dublin and credited the facility for saving his life. The radio host also admitted that his mental state stopped him from working.
"You little sad pox of a thing. Sit up right and smile for a change will you?" McGregor wrote in the message to Gallagher. "You sad little c*** hahahaha wife left you an all and your crying in the paper bout depression, posture like a prawn. Sad b******. I am Ireland. Don't forget it. There's blood on my flag useesoo."
McGregor deflected criticisms of his tweets to Gallagher by challenging the comedian and Irish footballing legend, who he has also recently traded words with, to a two-on-one boxing match in aid of mental health organisations. "I challenge PJ and Paul McGrath to 2 vs 1 boxing match in aid of mental health and anti bullying organisations," he tweeted.
McGrath, who is considered to be one of the greatest Irish footballers of all time, labelled McGregor as a "bully" for his comments to Gallagher. The UFC star told McGrath to stay out of their argument by writing: "Best stay out of it Paul, I bully no one. I just come back at people when they try and bully me. End of. Also you're barred from all of my pubs as well now."
