Conor McGregor has vowed to break Matt Brown's record of twelve KOs in UFC as he prepares for his comeback fight.
UFC superstar McGregor has been out of action for nearly two years after breaking his leg, but will return in 2023 after announcing his return clash against contender Michael Chandler. The contest will come as part of the latest series of The Ultimate Fighter, and will see the Irishman looking to regain momentum after losing three of his last four fights.
At UFC Charlotte this weekend, Matt Brown tied heavyweight Derrick Lewis' record of thirteen for the most knockouts in UFC history by wiping out Court McGee. And in typically brash fashion, McGregor has set his eyes on a new target, tweeting: "Matt Brown, at 42 years of age, now holds the joint highest KO’s inside the UFC with 13KO’s.
"Him and 'The Beast' Lewis are tied. I hold 8 KO’s inside the UFC currently, at 34 years of age. I’m getting this record." McGregor currently has eight since beginning his career in the UFC, which includes his record-breaking win over Jose Aldo, and beating Eddie Alvarez to become a two-weight simultaneous champion.
The records regularly came tumbling during the height of McGregor's career, in and out of the cage, including having the highest-watched UFC event of all-time against Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2018. However his recent record has dried up having won just once against Donald Cerrone since 2016.
His upcoming test against Chandler will come at the same weight class he recorded his win, having declared he intends to move up to 170lb and launch a potential assault on the title. During his recovery from injury, McGregor piled on the pounds and showed off a remarkable transformation, sporting a ripped physique.

Despite his new shape, his American rival has vowed to be the man who puts another significant dent in his UFC revival plan and win by KO. However McGregor himself believes he will be the man to have his hand raised and believes his power will prove too much.
He told The Mac Life: "I like Michael, I had a good little buzz with him yesterday. I have no issues with him at all. I think he's a good fighter. Just having a buzz with him, he's a nice guy. I think I'm just gonna slice through him. I think I'm a little too slicey for him than anyone else he's fought – a little too snappy and whippy.
"He's more of an athlete type of a guy than a technical martial artist. I know he's got some skills in the wrestling department, and he's got some skills overall, but as far as like the small, finer details, I'm not sure. I'm happy where I'm at. It will be an interesting one before I go against him."
