Conor McGregor flattened the Miami Heat mascot during Game 4 of the NBA Finals with the same signature left hook that took down Jose Aldo.
McGregor attended Game 4 of the NBA Finals sitting courtside as the Miami Heat took on the Denver Nuggets on their home floor. Donning a red velvet outfit, McGregor made his way to the halfcourt circle during a break in play to introduce Burnie the mascot to his trademark left hand, once dubbed "the most dangerous shot in MMA".
After the knockout shot, which brutally doubled over the mascot and dropped him to the hardwood, McGregor placed a final blow on the downed mascot.
The trademark hammer fist was also reminiscent of the 13-second KO of Aldo that launched him into superstardom.
While the game wasn't exactly full of blockbuster moments, McGregor made the most of his chance to promote his new plant-based recovery spray "Tidl." Using the aerosol can in his opposite hand, the 34-year-old sprayed Burnie in the face as the mascot was dragged away.
The spray is a part of the MMA star's "McGregor FAST" training program that also includes a mobile app that allows users to track their fitness goals. However, his actions were met with boos from the crowd, who were seemingly more concerned with the safety of the mascot than his promotional stunt.
Standing 7’6” with fire-orange fur and a green basketball nose, Burnie is one the most popular mascots in the NBA. Previously Burnie made headlines for trolling DeMar DeRozan during an NBA game and having a dance-off with a 14-year-old Heat fan that went viral.
McGregor's business ventures continue to grew, making him the richest and most successful fighter in UFC history outside the octagon. He's the founder of Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey, TIDL Sport, the August McGregor business suit clothing line, and sporting fitness platform McGregor FAST. He also purchased The Black Forge Inn in 2019 and is expected to launch Forged Irish Stout in 2023.
McGregor's last victory in the UFC was three years ago, in January 2020, defeating Donald Cerrone in a return fight after a nearly three-year hiatus from the sport. He's since lost twice to Dustin Poirier and not fought since July 2021.
Before that, The Irishman lost a chance to regain the UFC Lightweight championship after losing to Khabib Nurmagomedov by neck crank at UFC 229. He is is currently coaching against MMA rival Michael Chandler in the 31st season of the UFC's program "The Ultimate Fighter".
