Conor McGregor hugs Eddie Jordan while waving Irish flag at Monaco F1 Grand Prix

Among the series of snaps Conor McGregor shared from his VIP experience at the Monaco Grand Prix was one with Irish racing innovator Eddie Jordan.

The pair looked to be in top form (or should that be top gear) as they shared an embrace in the pit lane while McGregor waved an Irish tricolour prior to the iconic race.

The MMA superstar attached himself to everyone's favourite underdog from Drive to Survive in Team Haas.

However, 'Mystic Mac' couldn't have been much more wide of the mark when predicting how they would fare over the weekend.

Beforehand he had talked up their chances given the 'racing royalty' they possess since one of their drivers is Mick Schumacher - son of Michael.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he proclaimed: “It’s great to be here, I enjoyed this qualifying round…it’s great to be here at my first Grand Prix in Monaco.

"I’m honored. I’m here supporting Team Haas. It’s all to play for, there’s been a crash between the top two. Our car I believe is freshest…There’s a storm brewing and we’re excited about tomorrow. Let’s go Team Haas.

"I believe there is something special brewing and it's for Haas, I'm rooting for Haas."

"Racing royalty. I feel it's written, I can feel it in the air, I feel it in the air for the boys and I'm rooting for them and I'm wishing them all the best."

However, both drivers ended up crashing out of the race with Schumacher in particular fortunate to walk away from a terrifying looking incident where his car split in half at the swimming pool chicane.

It was a rough weekend of predictions all-round for him too as he also tipped Liverpool to come out on top in the Champions League final.

As ever, McGregor also predicted future success for himself too as he assured fans that his MMA career is far from over.

He added: "That story is far from finished. In fact, that story is still being written.

"The body's doing good, I'm out here with my full team. Obviously I'm enjoying the Monaco Grand Prix, and after that we're going to up the training bit-by-bit.

"I should be able to kick now, I've another CT-scan in the coming days, and then I'll be cleared to kick. Once I can kick and grapple, I'll be back in in no time.

"Boxing training is going well, and strength training, so I'm excited to get back."
