Conor McGregor eyeing up title fight and Nate Diaz trilogy after Michael Chandler bout

Conor McGregor has a title fight and trilogy bout with Nate Diaz on his mind once he gets done with Michael Chandler.

The Irishman will take on Chandler later this year when he makes his return to the UFC after suffering a leg break against Dustin Poirier in 2021.

But the Dubliner is already looking to the future and is eyeing up a title shot at Welterweight after he takes care of the durable Chandler.

"Yeah, I’d like [a welterweight title shot], said McGregor on the MMA Hour, who revealed that he may be in attendance for the Leon Edwards v Kamaru Usman title fight in London this month.

"I may be present for the card, we are making moves at the Black Forge in London, so I was scheduled to go out there so after this, Gunni’s (Gunnar Nelson) also on the card so it would be good to see him live. It would be good to watch that welterweight title for sure."

On the topic of Diaz, McGregor claimed that his old rival agreed to coach the Ultimate Fighter opposite McGregor before being replaced by Chandler.

Regardless, Diaz is a fight that still appeals to McGregor. With one win each in the series, 'The Notorious' would love to settle the score once and for all.

"It was originally to be against Nate. It was Nate, me versus Nate,' he stated during the interview.

'So I didn’t mind who it was against, to be honest, nor do I mind who I compete against, that’s widely known. So I had agreed to it, it was Nate, it was like a day or two before, now it’s Michael Chandler.

'I’m not sure what went down on that end, but it was me versus Chandler, and that’s it. I have no problem, I’m happy with it."

McGregor's fight with Chandler has yet to be given a date. However, in the interview with Helwani, McGregor revealed that he would like to fight two times in 2023.
