Conor McGregor drops hint as to UFC star's latest net worth ahead of return

Conor McGregor has hinted he has a staggering net worth of £200million in his latest social media post.

McGregor is one of sport's wealthiest figures and is regularly ranked on Forbes' sporting rich list having earned mega pay cheques for his UFC exploits. In 2021, McGregor was ranked as the highest-earning sportsperson after banking £145m despite only being able to fight twice in two consecutive defeats to Dustin Poirier.

Previous estimates have claimed McGregor could be worth a total of £135m, despite not having fought since last July after breaking his leg. However in his latest video teasing his return to training McGregor dropped a hint at his worth, writing the caption: "The tastiest around there’s a reason I’m currently priced 200 million pound."

McGregor can be seen boxing in the video as he continues to step up his recovery with a view to a UFC comeback next year. Despite having accumulated huge wealth last year, McGregor fell in the Forbes rankings for 2022 which was largely down to the majority stake sale of in Proper 12 whiskey to Proximo Spirits for around £120m.

The Irishman usually banks around £20m for his fights with an extra £5m generated for pay-per-view sales from the events. McGregor regularly flaunts his wealth buying a whole host of plush gifts including his new custom-made Lamborghini yacht worth around £2.7m.

He has also been travelling around the world this summer to a host of exotic European destinations including Monaco and Ibiza. McGregor also explored the possibility of acquiring a football club this year, when he suggested he would have the wealth available to buy Chelsea FC which was eventually sold to American investor Todd Boehly for a value believed to be around £4.25billion.

McGregor's biggest payday came in a money-spinning crossover boxing match with legend Floyd Mayweathe in 2017. It is anticipated he earned around £80m from the huge revenue the fight generated despite being stopped in the tenth round.

The Irish star also earns around £16m a year in endorsements irrespective of his fighting action including with brand TIDL Sport and other social media earnings. McGregor is now eyeing a comeback at 170lb which is expected to be delayed until next year after suffering a set back during his rehabilitation.

And the 33-year-old called out a whole host of champions from the UFC in his latest return claim, tweeting: "So we’ve got the 170lb Jamaican British Leon. We’ve got the 185lb Nigerian New Zealander, The Stylebender Izzy, and we’ve got the Czech Samurai, Jiří Procházka. Give me a bell I’ll be out at sea for the next what, 40 seconds then I’m back. Quick rip. Call me anytime - Heavy shoulders."
