Conor McGregor denies allegations he assaulted woman on his yacht off Spanish island

Conor McGregor today denied allegations he assaulted a woman on his multi-million euro yacht off a Spanish sun island.

Speaking exclusively to Dublin Live a spokesperson for the Dublin MMA star denied the claims made to Spanish cops by a Dublin woman over an alleged incident in the sea off the Balearic island of Formentera last July. Spokesperson Karen Kessler said: “Mr. McGregor is steadfast in his denial of all the accusations made by a guest on his boat.”

The denial comes as Dublin Live has learned that gardai are now probing an unconnected arson attack on a car belonging to the Dublin woman who has made the allegations against Mr McGregor. We can confirm that officers in Dublin are probing the attack on the woman’s car in the city late last week.

The attack came a matter of days after the woman attended a court hearing in the Spanish sun island of Ibiza over the alleged assault last summer. Sources say an attempt was made to burn the woman’s car in a Dublin suburb on last Thursday night.

Nobody was injured in the attack and gardai are investigating. It is not being suggested that the arson attack is in any way connected with the woman's allegations against Mr McGregor.

A Garda spokesman told us: “Gardaí are investigating a suspected criminal damage by fire incident that occurred at approximately 10:00pm on Thursday, 19th January 2023 at a residential premises. No injuries were reported during the course of this incident. No arrests have been made at this stage. Investigations are ongoing.”

The woman has alleged she was assaulted on Mr McGregor’s yacht as it sailed around the Balearic islands off the coast of Spain last July. She claimed the assault happened close to the island of Formentera.

Spanish officials have now have confirmed an investigation has been opened by a court in Ibiza into the woman's claims. A spokesman for the investigating magistrate said: “I can confirm a court in Ibiza is investigating an Irish national for an alleged crime of wounding.”

Normal procedure in Spain is that charges are only laid shortly before trial after lengthy investigations which always take place behind closed doors. If McGregor ends up being summoned for questioning in Ibiza, he will be quizzed in a private hearing by the investigating judge, although investigators would also have the option of questioning him by video link if they decide they need to speak to him as the probe progresses.
