Conor McGregor and Dee Devlin have been pictured in fast food restaurant McDonalds in Abu Dhabi.
The Notorious has been out of fighting action since July 2021, when he suffered a broken leg in a UFC defeat to Dustin Poirier, but he has been slowly stepping up his training. His rehabilitation is expected to go on until next year, with any potential return set for 2023 after setbacks provided hurdles during his recovery.
The Dubliner has been enjoying himself during his time away from competing and has now gone on his latest plush break to Middle Eastern shores in Abu Dhabi. He posted a series of images while partying alongside Dee, with the caption: "Another incredible night at @theblackforgeinn Abu Dhabi, with the Irish out in force!! The @forgedirishstout and @properwhiskey flowing, it’s like a festival!"
Despite his reputation as one of the biggest stars in sport, McGregor did not keep a low-profile during his time away and even posted a picture with himself and his fiancee in pyjamas while visiting fast food restaurant McDonalds. The pair posed for a picture by the tills, and were clearly looking for a bite to eat after their busy time partying, reports The Mirror.
McGregor has been on a series of ventures around the globe since launching his rehabilitation period which include recent partying in Ibiza and a trip to the Dominican Republic to film for his new Hollywood acting role alongside Jake Gyllenhaal. This has led to many UFC fans becoming concerned that he may not come back to the promotion for a longer period, particularly given his status outside of the VADA testing pool, which will see him out of action for another six months.
A whole host of potential fights could be available for McGregor when he does elect to return, with some of the biggest names on the roster already having his name on the tip of their tongue. His next opponent will almost certainly be from the 170lb division after he confirmed his intention to switch up in weight.
Despite enjoying his time away, McGregor's manager, Tim Simpson, has claimed the star is training like a "madman' and is confident he will return to his best next year. "He’s still on track for a big return next year, but this fits in perfectly in the meantime," Simpson told MMA Junkie. "The leg is still healing. I think there’s a little bit more to go on that, but he’s been training like a madman twice a day, every day.
"He’s got his full team out there: the McGregor Fast team, all his health and fitness guys, physio, boxing, coaching. He’s been going hard. He’s been training super hard. He’s in amazing shape – just final adjustments to get that leg back where it needs to be."
