Conor Benn has been provisionally suspended by UK Anti-Doping following his positive drugs test last year, according to reports.
The 26-year-old produced two positive samples in the build-up to his much-heralded fight against Chris Eubank Jr, which was scrapped after the British Boxing Board of Control withdrew his licence as a result of the anti-doping findings.
Benn was cleared to box by the World Boxing Council following their own investigation, with UKAD in the midst of their own investigation.
According to Boxing News magazine, Benn was notified of his provisional suspension by UKAD on March 15.
Following the reports, Benn said on social media: “I can’t comment on anything to do with UKAD other than to say that I am in touch with them.
“Someone at the BBBoC or UKAD obviously wanted to create a headline unlike the [Amir] Khan case where it was kept quiet for months but this is nothing new. I remain free to fight outside the UK.
“This isn’t even about my innocence anymore, it’s all politics. You can’t keep a good man down.”
The provisional suspension does not stop Benn, who has continued to professed his innocence after clomifene was found in his system, from fighting abroad with plans reportedly afoot for his next fight in the Middle East.
