Conor Benn expects his fight with Chris Eubank Jr to take place despite claiming his rival will not be cornered by his father.
Benn will settle his bitter rivalry with Eubank Jr on October 8 at London's O2 arena in front of a sold-out crowd. The pair will settle the score in a feud which has originated from their fathers, who first touched gloves over 30 years ago in what went on to be two of the most high-profile domestic fights in the sport's history.
Earlier this week, the fight looked to be in jeopardy when Eubank Jr's father revealed his plan to withdraw his son from the event over health concerns regarding their agreed catchweight. However Benn believes the words have been blown out of proportion and expects his opinion to have no bearing on the fight going ahead.
He said during a Twitter Spaces last night: 'It's been blown out of proportion. Sr has gone on a rant saying 157lb is not healthy for my son and you should pull him out of the fight and I'll pay the penalty. It was an issue on their side, it's a miscommunication on their side; Sr has no involvement in his son's career and I don't think he'll be in the corner on the fight.
"It leaves me baffled as to who's going to be in his corner, if it's Roy Jones Jr or Sr. All I know is that I've got a strong united front my end, my team is reunited and we all have one mission and thats getting the victory. He said he'll take legal action to stop the fight but it's all irrelevant. It makes no difference to me, I could be facing King Kong and I'd still train the same.
"I didn't take any notice of what he was saying because at the end of the day it means nothing; he's not the one who signed the contract. As far as I'm concerned, the fight is on."

Eubank Jr was expected to ask his father to be in his corner for the fight over previous trainer Roy Jones Jr due to the family history behind the rivalry. However the 32-year-old revealed he has yet to decide on if Jones Jr will instead take the reins, if his father plans not to attend the fight over concerns for his son's health.
The pair have agreed to a catchweight of 147lb which will see Benn step up 10lb to make weight, while Eubank Jr will have to drop three pounds to prevent being fined. It was understood to be a stumbling block during negotiations to put the fight on, but the pair were able to agree on the weight and sign the bout agreement despite the delay.
