Connor Zilisch, a rising star in the racing world, is set to make his mark in the Nascar Xfinity Series with JR Motorsports. Despite being under 18 years old, Zilisch has already secured a four-race deal with the team, starting his Xfinity Series journey at Watkins Glen International in September.
Zilisch expressed his excitement and gratitude for the opportunity, acknowledging the learning curve ahead as he transitions to racing on bigger tracks. He credited the support of Chevrolet, Silver Hare Racing, and Trackhouse Racing for helping him reach this milestone.
Having joined Trackhouse Racing as a development driver earlier this year, Zilisch's racing prowess was highlighted by his victory in the Rolex 24 at Daytona with Era Motorsport in the LMP2 category.
JR Motorsports CEO Kelley Earnhardt Miller welcomed Zilisch to the team, praising his talent and expressing anticipation for his debut at Watkins Glen. Zilisch's participation is part of JRM's strategic expansion, with plans to field its fifth entry in select races this season.
Joining Zilisch in the No. 88 car lineup is short track standout Bubba Pollard, who is set to compete at Richmond in March. Pollard, eager for the opportunity, acknowledged the challenges of racing at a new track in an Xfinity car but expressed gratitude for the support from Rheem and JR Motorsports.
Additionally, Carson Kvapil is gearing up for his Xfinity Series debut at Martinsville in April, adding to the excitement surrounding JRM's expanding roster. The team's co-owner, Dale Earnhardt Jr., will also make a special appearance in the No. 88 car in an upcoming race, further enhancing the anticipation for the upcoming events.
