Connor Goldson Rangers injury timeline revealed as Giovanni van Bronckhorst issues update

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has revealed Connor Goldson faces several MONTHS on the sidelines after his injury against Liverpool.

The Rangers star was forced off towards the end of the first half as Jurgen Klopp's men hit the Light Blues for seven in their Champions League matchday four clash. The game was level at 1-1 when the ever-present defender departed the field of play at Ibrox.

Following the mauling in Govan, the ever-present stopper was pictured on crutches and now it has been confirmed he has suffered a muscular issue and won't be back in the short-term. Team-mate Ryan Jack also hobbled off with the midfielder also set for an extended spell out. The good news is Ben Davies had a knock with doubts over his selection against Motherwell but the Dutchman has revealed he has NO injury and will be involved at Fir Park.

Speaking in his pre-match media conference, the Rangers boss said: " [Connor] Goldson and [Ryan] Jack have injuries, they both have muscular issues and won't be back in the short term

"[Ben] Davies had a knock but could continue, he has no injury and I expect him to be involved tomorrow.

"It's always a blow, Connor has played all the games since I arrived.

"I'm not exactly sure yet on Connor (Goldson), but it will be several months out by looks of it.

"We have natural CBs in Davies, [Leon] King and [James] Sands. We also have [John] Lundstram who is an option in those positions."

On the Champions League defeat to Liverpool, he added: "We analyse the game, and what we have to improve. In the Champions League, you have to be in top form for 90 minutes. I think the goals we conceded are capable of better defending in these moments. We have to switch back to domestic games, our focus is on winning.

"You have to get stronger in these moments. Improve and continue, we will use this to move forward. Our main focus is on Sunday, we want the three points and then have another big game in the League Cup. The games keep coming and we have to prepare well and stay focused."
