Connecticut hospitals must now include a notice on or with patient billing statements saying that financial assistance may be available and that patients can apply at no cost, under a state law that took effect Oct. 1.
The notice must appear in English and Spanish and be posted on each hospital's website, according to a Becker's Hospital Review summary of new laws. Hospitals must also spell out in written policies who qualifies, how charges are calculated, and which providers are covered.
