Connecticut Gov. Lamont declares victory as GOP’s Stefanowski does not concede

HARTFORD, Conn. — Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont declared victory late Tuesday night as Republican challenger Bob Stefanowski did not concede defeat in an increasingly bitter rematch between the two rivals.

The Fox News Channel declared Lamont the winner around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, but Lamont did not speak until two hours later to Democrats who gathered for an election night party at a baseball stadium in Hartford.

“Sorry to keep you waiting so long,’' Lamont told a raucous crowd in the club section at Dunkin’ Donuts Park.
