HYDERABAD: Telangana Congress president and Malkajgiri MP A Revanth Reddy, in a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said there is an urgent need to declare the flood situation in the state as a national disaster.
The torrential rains and floods have disrupted public life causing deaths. The connectivity and communication channels to thousands of villages have been cut off. The crops in 11 lakh acres have been damaged till Friday, houses and properties of the people and government infrastructure has been damaged. Lack of access to food and potable drinking water for people in many villages and threat of submergence due to water levels reaching perilous levels in reservoirs is causing huge public distress, he stated in the letter.
