HYDERABAD: Congress MPs from Telangana staged a dharna in front of the statue of BR Ambedkar on Parliament premises on Monday demanding that a case of treason be booked against Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for seeking that the Constitution of India be changed.
Telangana Congress president and Malkajgiri MP A Revanth Reddy along with Nalgonda MP N Uttam Kumar Reddy and Bhuvanagiri MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy staged a dharna and demanded that PM Narendra Modi respond to KCR’s remarks on Constitution. They were later joined by AICC in-charge of Telangana Manickam Tagore. “We staged a dharna to bring to notice of President Ramnath Kovind and Modi remarks made by KCR demanding changing Constitution. KCR’s demand amounts to treason and therefore, necessary legal action should be taken against him,” Revanth demanded. TPCC chief said there was a strong suspicion in political circles that KCR’s demand was part of a larger conspiracy hatched by the BJP central leadership.
“Do Modi and KCR want to emulate the leadership of Vladimir Putin, Kim Jong-un and Xi Jinping by imposing dictatorial rule across the country by bringing a new Constitution,” Revanth sought to know. Revanth said they would give an adjournment motion notice on the issue in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
