Picture the scene: you’ve just spent 30 minutes on a sweltering Central line commute to Bank, hemmed in among a sea of clammy armpits. What’s the first thing you want to do?
Spend a few more hours at the station, TfL bosses are betting. You can now hire parts of Bank for corporate parties under a new policy aimed at finding extra money for the cash-strapped tube.
The platforms at Bank “provide a sleek, modern backdrop for events, right in the heart of the City,” boasts the brochure, adding “there are long passenger walkways, escalators and travelators.” Sounds compelling.
And you may even get change for £10k. “We generally expect that the costs for hiring one of the event spaces will be in the four to five figure range,” a spokesperson told Spy.
