Conflicting reports over the next club of former Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa have emerged as Argentinian outlet Le Nacion claim he is still considering a move to Santos. Santos are said to be prepared to hand Bielsa the power to manage the club how he likes in order to tempt him into a move to the Urbano Caldeira Stadium.
That would reportedly allow Bielsa to take control of the Brazilian side’s recruitment, facilities and youth team, with Santos president Andres Rueda said to have had conversations over the phone with the 67-year-old. Rueda believes that contacts have so far been ‘positive’, with Bielsa continuing to make his requests.
This comes just 24 hours after another South American journalist Cesar Luis Merlo reported that Bielsa had already turned down the advances of Santos. Merlo claims Bielsa did not see the project at Santos, who sit just six points off the relegation zone with 11 top-flight matches remaining, as interesting from a sporting perspective.

He also claims that the Argentinian has other offers on the table which he is currently mulling over. Fellow reporter Andre Hernan also relays this information, stating that Bielsa has reservations over accepting a move there due to the instability at the club.
Santos have already fired three managers this year, and are also in a relatively poor financial condition, meaning they may not be able to match his wage demands. Bielsa has been out of work since his departure from Elland Road back in February.
