Confirmed Chelsea team vs Borussia Dortmund: James returns, Potter sticks with back three

Graham Potter has made two changes to his Chelsea starting XI for the Champions League Round of 16 second leg against Borussia Dortmund.

The Blues start from behind at Stamford Bridge this evening; a goal from Karim Adeyemi in the first leg secured a narrow victory for the Bundesliga giants, who come into tonight's match on a ten-game winning run. They will not be an easy side to overcome.

Potter hasn't been able to call upon several players for tonight's fixture, some due to injury and others due to not being registered in the Champions League squad. But he has still made tweaks to the side that secured a much-needed win against Leeds United at the weekend.

Kepa Arrizabalaga starts in goal for the Blues once more. There is no Edouard Mendy so the substitute goalkeepers are Marcus Bettinelli and youngster Lucas Bergstrom, who spent the first half of the campaign on loan at League One side Peterborough United.

Potter has opted to stick with the back-three shape used against Leeds. Wesley Fofana is expected to be deployed on the right, Kalidou Koulibaly will occupy the central spot, and Marc Cucurella comes in on the left for Benoit Badiashile.

Reece James was absent on Saturday having felt tightness in his hamstring last week. But the England international is back in the starting XI at right wing-back. On the opposite flank will be Ben Chilwell, who appears back to his best after prolonged spells out of the side due to injury over the previous 12 months.

Enzo Fernandez has started every game following his January transfer from Benfica and the Argentina international is in the squad once again. He will be partnered in midfield by Mateo Kovacic, who captains the side.

Raheem Sterling has looked sharp since returning to the side after injury. He is expected to be deployed on the right of an attacking trio that also includes Kai Havertz – who is now Chelsea's first-choice penalty taker – and Joao Felix, who undertook pre-match media duties yesterday.
