A new partnership to boost small business confidence this winter has been launched by the Small Business Saturday campaign, as it prepares to celebrate ten years in the UK.
The iconic campaign is offering small businesses inspiration and advice, with support from eBay. This insight particularly focuses on making the most of the vital seasonal period, which Small Business Saturday falls at the heart of when it takes place on 3 December.
With a mission to encourage people to shop locally and support businesses in their communities, Small Business Saturday aims to celebrate small businesses.
It is showcasing stories of entrepreneurial success, to help inspire and encourage small businesses, particularly as the UK heads into recession and firms face mounting economic challenges.
Leading industry experts have also shared a series of top tips as part of the partnership, including strategies to engage existing customers and reach new ones, through embracing online sales channels.
“There are a multitude of challenges being thrown at small businesses now, and it can feel pretty gloomy out there for them,” said Michelle Ovens CBE, Director of Small Business Saturday.
“Small Business Saturday is all about throwing a giant, glittering spotlight on small businesses, to highlight how amazing they are, and share some much-needed hope and optimism.
“Sharing invaluable insights and learnings from experienced small firms and experts can really help small businesses to find new ways to combat this winter’s challenges.”
Small Business Saturday is a grassroots, non-commercial campaign that was founded in the US in 2010 by American Express, which remains the UK campaign’s principal supporter.
Over the time the campaign has been running in the UK it has engaged millions around the value of small businesses, seen billions spent with small firms on Small Business Saturday and received widespread backing from political and business leaders.
“It’s incredibly tough out there for small businesses, so we all need to come together to offer them as much support as possible”, said Murray Lambell, VP and General Manager, eBay UK.
“This new partnership brings together vital insight from many of our leading sellers and other brilliant industry experts to help small businesses navigate the current challenges and continue to grow.”
