A concert is set to take place on Holy Island so that music lovers can experience the island at high tide and escape the pressure of city life.
Pilgrimage To The Islands will see attendees marooned during high tide with the promise of music, art and the chance "to revel in the natural surroundings of the island." The island, in the Northumberland Coast AONB, is cut off by the tide twice a day, and the aim of the concert is that the audience "head back to the mainland with their souls refreshed" after the tide ebbs away.
The concert takes place at Holy Island's Village (Crossman) Hall, with the event headlined by Kathryn Williams and her band. Also on the bill are folk rock band Hector Gannet, who have helped curate the event.
The band's debut album Big Harcar, named after one of the Farne Islands, was released in October 2020 with song subjects including the geographical and geological foundation of Northumbria's Whin Sill, and the history of the Holy Island area in 'The Haven of St Aidan's'. Also performing are Ruth Lyon, The Early Purple, Ceitidh Mac, Nev Clay, Paul Summers, and Leon Bargery of Mount Doubt.
The event in the village hall starts at 2pm and attendees can access the island anytime on February 25 from 9.20 - 16.15, before the Causeway is covered by the North Sea. Safe crossing back to the mainland is from 10pm.
Tickets are £25 per person and you can find full details of the event here. Please check the tide times for Lindisfarne on the Northumberland County Council website in order to cross the Holy Island Causeway safely.
