Concert for Ukraine to take place in Newcastle headlined by Lindisfarne

A concert to support those impacted by the war in Ukraine will take place in Newcastle tonight.

Proceeds raised from the gig 'From Newcastle With Love' will go to Newcastle Stands With Ukraine, a campaign which delivers aid to communities within the war torn country that are struggling to access aid from mainstream agencies. Over £13,000 has already been raised from the event before acts take to the stage.

Newcastle Stands With Ukraine was set up within days of Vladimir Putin's invasion, with more than £12,000 raised in its first week. The campaign, led by city councillor Nicu Ion, is delivering aid directly to the Ukrainian border.

North East rock band Lindisfarne is headlining 'From Newcastle With Love' alongside additional acts from the region, including Pauline Murray, Elizabeth Liddle, Simma and Joe Allan who have donated their time to support the cause.

Lindisfarne will play a number of their songs from over the years when the event kicks off at Wylam Brewery in Exhibition Park from 7pm. The venue is also hosting the event for free.

Tickets have sold out for tonight's event. However, donations to support those caught up in the Ukraine crisis can still be made by visiting this link.
