Girl, 11, missing from Scots town since early hours of the morning found safe and well

A young girl who went missing from a town in North Lanarkshire, prompting a frantic police search, has been found safe and well.

Aine Brown was last seen around 2.35am today near the Asda superstore on Palace Grounds Road, Hamilton after leaving her home on Emily Drive in Motherwell.

The 11-year-old had not been seen or heard from since, with cops appealing to the public for their help as worries mounted for her welfare.

Officers have now confirmed that Aine has been traced safe and well. They thanked the public for their cooperation.

A spokesperson for Lanarkshire Police Division said: "We can confirm that Aine Bown, 11, reported missing from her home in Motherwell has been traced safe and well.

"Thank you to everyone who shared and responded to our appeal."
