A number of people were arrested as concerns grow that electric scooters are involved in suspected County Lines operations.
Merseyside Police has responded to concerns of suspected County Lines drug supply into Formby and Ainsdale and the anti-social use of illegal scooters and scrambler bikes. Officers from the Sefton Neighbourhood Team based at Southport Police Station have made a number of arrests in the past week.
On the evening of Tuesday, June 21, officers on Operation Luminosity seized two Sur-Ron' type electric bikes and an electric scooter in the area between Hightown and Formby. All three riders were reported for Road Traffic Offences and two of three were arrested on suspicion of possessing class B drugs.

The following evening the team responded to complaints of off-road motorcycles being used in the Key Woods area. Six men were found to be using four off road scrambler bikes and one electric scooter. The vehicles were all seized by Merseyside Police.
One man was arrested on suspicion of a number of offences including possession of a controlled drug, dangerous driving and disqualified driving. The other five men were issued with warnings under section 59 of the Police Reform Act.
These warnings mean should the give men be found using any other mechanically propelled vehicle in an anti-social manner in the next 12 months those vehicles can also be seized.
The news of the arrests was broken by Sefton Police via their social media accounts. The post added if people know where these types of vehicles are being stored you can report anonymously via Crimestoppers.
