Neighbours have voiced concerns that plans for a city road where 'a lot of people are moving in' could worsen parking issues. A large extension at the back of three properties on Colwick Road, Sneinton would be used to form a 30-bed house in multiple occupation for students, if approved by Nottingham City Council.
A three-storey block would be built behind three occupied homes neighbouring St Christopher's Church under the plans which have been put forward by The Student Lodge. But neighbours were unsure on how the proposals would affect parking on the busy road.
David Needham, 66, who is retired and lives off Colwick Road, said the area had seen a lot of growth and was experiencing parking issues. "There would just not be enough room for that from what I can see. It seems a lot of people are moving into the area at the moment - it is quite a diverse community.

"One of the worst problems here is parking, it is always a pain. I think moving 30 more people into a small space is likely to make that worse.
"I think it would be way too much for that part of the road, but there is some space at the back. I'd worry about people being crammed in."
Mohammed Issaka, 47, a warehouse worker who lives nearby, said: "I think it might be too crowded to have that many people in one place. Parking would be a problem if there's no any included in the plans. It already gets very busy on this road, so it might be a bad idea to add more people.
"It could impact the church and other neighbours too. I think it will just be too cramped."
Others thought the plan would help those struggling to find housing. A neighbouring resident, who did not want to be named, said: "It might seem a little much but there is a housing shortage in this country. People just need homes of every type.
"I'd much rather developers do this than have to knock somethings else down or build on greenery. Putting 30 rooms there does seem like a lot but I would have to see how the plans look."
In a planning document, the developer outlined the six existing parking spaces would be retained as part of the project. They added that 24 cycle spaces would be added to the property.
Nottingham's Article 4 direction means that planning permission is needed to convert properties into larger HMOs in Nottingham. The planning application, submitted by M&O Architects on behalf of applicant M Shiekh, is currently pending consideration by Nottingham City Council.
