UPDATE: Edward has now been found safe and well, police have confirmed.
An elderly man with dementia has gone missing from east Manchester.
Police said the 87-year-old - named only as Edward - was last seen at around 5am this morning (October 4). He was seen getting out of a Hastings taxi near the Droylsden tram stop.
Edward is well-known in the Clayton area, police added. He is described as being a white man who is around 5ft 8in tall and of slim build.

He has combed back grey and white hair and uses a brown walking stick. Police shared a picture of Edward on social media as part of an appeal for help to find him.
The post said 'officers are becoming increasingly concerned for Edward's safety and want to make sure he is safe and well'. Anyone with information about his whereabouts should call police via 101 or direct on 0161 856 3678.
