Concern grows for 'vulnerable' missing Scots teen believed to be in Edinburgh

Police are appealing for information on a missing teenager who disappeared from his East Lothian home at the weekend.

Young Danny Brunton, 17, was last seen on Sunday May 29 in the Abbey Strand area of Edinburgh, near the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

The teenager, from the Castle Avenue area of Port Seton in East Lothian, is believed to have travelled into the capital after passing through a number of other Lothian towns.

However, officers investigating his disappearance say he is "vulnerable" and should not be approached by the public - who are asked to report any sightings directly to the police instead.

Police have issued two images of Danny Brunton to date (Police Scotland)

Officers describe Danny as being around 5ft 7in tall, of a slim build, with shoulder-length dark blonde hair.

However, the most recent images cops have been able to obtain are slightly older and show him with shorter hair.

When last seen, Danny was wearing a black Adidas or Nike rain jacket, grey jogging bottoms and a black rucksack.

He is believed to be wearing either black slider sandals or white Converse shoes.

Sergeant Eric Dickson of Musselburgh police station said: “As time passes, our concern for Danny’s welfare continues to grow.

“From our enquiries we believe Danny has passed through Tranent, Prestonpans and Musselburgh and that he is now in Edinburgh.

“We are working extensively to try and find Danny and I would ask anyone in these areas to check garages, sheds, and outbuildings for any signs of him.

“I would also ask anyone with a dash-cam, CCTV or doorbell camera to check your footage for anything of relevance that might help us with our enquiries.

“Danny is vulnerable and may feel apprehensive about speaking with members of the public, so if you see him please contact police immediately rather than approaching him.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the police on 101, quoting incident number 0994 of Monday, 30 May, 2022.
