National Highways has announced a completion date for A52 junction improvements works in a Nottinghamshire village which have been ongoing since last year. The work has been taking place in Radcliffe-on-Trent at its Bingham Lane junction.
As part of the plans, National Highways is widening the approaches to the junction and installing traffic lights. Before work could start at the junction, however, essential gas works first had to be completed - which started in summer 2021. They say this pushed back the original completion date as work was suspended while inspections took place.
On Friday, May 13, National Highways confirmed the work will be completed by the end of next month - June 2022. This will mark just over 12 months of disruption for locals, with work starting there on Monday, June 21 2021.

A spokesperson for National Highways said in an update: "Our junction improvements work on the A52 at Bingham Road, in Radcliffe-on-Trent, is due to be completed by the end of June 2022. Our original planned completion date was pushed back because we unexpectedly uncovered utility pipework and cabling, which meant we had to suspend work until inspections confirmed these services were no longer in use and could be capped off.
"Coupled with national shortages of essential materials, which have led to delayed deliveries, our revised completion date is forecast for the end of next month."
When work first started last summer, residents aired their grievances over the impact the works were having on traffic coming through the village and using the main road.
Other work has been taking place along the busy route including at Gamston, Silverdale and Stragglethorpe as part of a project aiming to improve the A52 for drivers going forward. It is being delivered in three stages with the second stage currently being carried out.
A National Highways spokesperson continued: "While the junction improvements work is continuing, we need to maintain the current parking restrictions on Cropwell Road. The parking restrictions are important because they enable us to keep traffic moving and ensure the safety of children travelling to and from school.
"We understand the parking restrictions and construction work cause inconvenience for the local community. We thank you for your patience over the last six months and assure you we’ll continue to work as quickly and safely as possible."
