The company behind Newcastle’s virtual shooting range and cocktail bar Point Blank has been put into liquidation.
Point Blank opened three years ago in the former Co-op building at The Gate, filling the void left when Brazilian restaurant Cabana closed suddenly two years before that. The firm had invested £500,000 into the building to create a series of booths where customers could pretend to fire guns, using imitation weapons to shoot targets on big screens as they drank cocktails and ate American-style food.
The venue aimed to deliver a safe, fun and immersive experience, featuring simulated shooting using state-of-the-art technology from the US, where the systems are used by professionals to train and develop skills in non-live round environments. Now, however, Trigger Happy UK Ltd – which trades as Point Blank in Newcastle, Liverpool and Manchester – has appointed liquidators after members of the company passed a special resolution that the company be wound up voluntarily last month.
