Commuters mortified as porn is screened at train station platform for three minutes

Railway passengers were left red-faced after porn played on TV screens in the middle of a busy train station.

The pornographic material played on TV screens at Patna railway station in northern India's Bihar region, on March 19.

Normally the screen would show adverts, reportedly provided by a contracted outside agency.

Commuters can be seen stopping and starring at the X-rated content as they make their way on and off trains.

Following complaints to the Indian Railway Protection Force (RPF), the agency providing advertisements for the screens have been sacked, local sources claimed.

A source said an arrest warrant may also be issued for the individual operating the screens, who has reportedly fled police.

Back in 2017 the Mirror reported on another case of hardcore pornography being broadcast on a giant screen at one of India's busiest metro stations.

Commuters were stopped in their tracks at the station in Dehli's central business district of Connaught Place when the x-rated footage began playing on a large screen that normally broadcasts advertisements for luxury property or credit card schemes.

The incident prompted red-faced rail authorities to launch an investigation, after footage of the bungle went viral online.

One man stopped to film the scene on his mobile phone in a video which has gone viral before others reportedly joined him and uploaded their own clips to the web.

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) spokesman Mohinder Yadav told AFP that authorities were trying to identify three suspects believed to be behind the incident.

DMRC said the offending screen was operated by a private company and had an unsecure WiFi network, leaving it accessible to others.

"As per CCTV footage, three men have run (the) porn clip through their mobile on this TV," the DMRC said in a statement late Saturday.

It added that the contractor in charge of the screen would be required to have password protection from now on.

The incident made headlines in a country where talk about sex or even public displays of affection are seen by many as taboo.
