COMMUTERS will face delays and cancellations amid a 24-hour bus service strike across Newcastle and the Hunter.
The Transport Workers Union and Rail Bus and Tram Union have advised Transit Systems, CDC NSW and Transdev that members will stop work from today.
Travellers have been advised to consider alternative options, plan ahead and check Transport for NSW apps as services with a reduced timetable and the possibility of cancellations on short notice.
The major bus disruptions are expected around Hexham, Metford, Maitland and Branxton.
A statement from CDC NSW said the industry-wide protected industrial action will impact services for 24 hours.
"To manage the impact of reduced driver numbers, we will be running Saturday timetable services," it said.
"We apologise for the inconvenience."
Bus services will also be affected at the Central Coast and Blue Mountains, as well as across large parts of Sydney.
