Manchester City will face Arsenal in the FA Community Shield at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, August 6, the Football Association has announced.
The contest will kick-off at 5:30pm and will be broadcast live on both ITV and ITVX. The traditional season curtain-raiser will return to the capital in its 100th year after last year's Community Shield clash between City and Liverpool was contested at Leicester City's King Power Stadium because of the final of the 2022 UEFA European Women's Championship.
After being beaten 3-1 in last year's final, City will be hoping to lay their hands on the trophy this time around and add yet another piece of silverware to their collection. After winning both the Premier League title and the FA Cup this season, they will lock horns with Arsenal because the North London club finished as runners-up in the Premier League.
City won the FA Cup earlier this month, beating Manchester United 2-1 in the final. Goals from Ilkay Gundogan either side of a Bruno Fernandes penalty sealed the Blues' second of three trophies in 2022/23.

City last won the Community Shield back in 2019, beating Liverpool 5-4 on penalties following a 1-1 draw. They have won the trophy six times in their history, two of which have been under Pep Guardiola's stewardship.
City beat Arsenal three times during the 2022/23 campaign, winning both of their Premier League encounters and getting the better of them in the fourth round of the FA Cup. In all, they beat them by an aggregate scoreline of 8-2.
The clash with the Gunners at Wembley will take place just five days before City's Premier League opener against Burnley at Turf Moor on Friday, August 11. The fixtures for the forthcoming campaign were released on Thursday morning and handed the Blues an opening-day game away to Burnley and a reunion with former captain Vincent Kompany.
Ticket details for the clash with Arsenal will be made available in due course.
