Grieving friends and family have paid a beautiful tribute to Fizza Ahmed, a Didsbury woman who was found dead last month. They say she was a ‘hero’.
Fizza Tazeen Ahmed went missing on March 3 this year, and was sadly found dead four days later. Now, numerous friends, colleagues, and family members have paid tribute to her.
“In Fizza's unexpected passing, I lost not just my sister, my best friend, but also my colleague at The Dentists of Didsbury,” a statement from her sister Nazish Ahmed said. “She was instrumental in ensuring the smooth running of the practice as well as being our health and safety lead.

“She was akin to a Duracell bunny: a whirlwind of energy and enthusiasm, always ready and willing to tackle any task — this even included refreshing the paint work inside the practice when we were closed for seasonal breaks.
"She was a hero — on two separate occasions, returning from her lunch break having been the first responder to a man suffering a heart attack at the wheel in the car park of our neighbouring Tesco Parrs Wood; as well as assisting victims involved in a serious road traffic accident on Wilmslow Road.
“Her easy and incredibly compassionate manner enabled her to quickly build a rapport with our patients, instantly making them feel at ease – a selection of tributes left for her on her memorial page by some of our patients are testament to this.”
A former colleague, Dr Alasdair Honeyman, a GP from Moss Side branch of the Longsight Medical Practice, also said she was ‘so full of delight and passion’. He added: “She made the garden courtyard in the practice into such a haven. It is the mostly settling place to see anyone who is distressed or agitated. the plants and flowers remind me of her every day, and I miss her so.”
Fizza also devoted her time to improving relationships between some of the different communities in south Manchester. “Fizz Was a very lovely lady for us,” Wendy, Chief Priestess, said. “She bridged the gap in our community by coming together and working with the Rastafari Faith and the Muslim Religion.”
Nature was a big part of her life as well, family say, with her work at the Old Moat Greenies allotments greatly valued. Elsa Little said: “We met at the community allotment, Old Moat Greenies, a few years ago. She was so full of enthusiasm and had such a positive can-do attitude which was contagious! She gave her time so generously.
“She made such a difference on our plot and then went on to get her own but continued to help us and many others. It seemed she knew everyone by name! Anytime I'd see Fizz at the allotments she would always message me to say, it was great to see you, Elsa'' and she did this for everyone in our group. She had a very special way of making people feel seen, heard, and appreciated.
“I recently had to go to A&E and Fizz called to check up on me. She continued to send me messages to make sure I was ok. She was so caring and gentle, yet fierce and powerful at the same time. I was always impressed by her dedication to the community and at the allotments.
“When I would thank her for her help and she would say, ''I feel privileged to help out'' or ''It's my honour to help'' or simply ''I love it to dig!''.”
Fizza’s birthday will be marked by a charity fun day, organised by her family. Money raised will go towards the projects she dedicated her time to.
