Tributes have been pouring in following the death of 17-year-old Colin Joyce.
The Claremorris teenager played for Mayo Gaels GAA Club, where he represented their U17 team.
Paying tribute to Colin, Mayo GAA said in a statement: "Mayo GAA wish to express sympathy to the family of Colin Joyce (17) from Mayo Gaels GAA Club who passed. Colin was an U17 player with Mayo Gaels. RIP Colin Joyce."
A number of other tributes and messages of condolences were left for Colin and his family on social media.
One person wrote: "Condolences to all Colin's family, friends & team mates, another bright light gone out too soon...Rest peacefully young man."
Another commented: "Sincere condolences to Colin's parents Paraic and Bridie, to his grandparents Mick and Delia, to the extended Joyce and Lawless families and to all of Colin's friends and neighbours. You are in my prayers at this devastating time. May Colin's beautiful soul rest in eternal peace."
Someone else posted: "RIP Colin Deepest sympathy to the whole family on this very sad time."
Colin's funeral takes place at the Church of Our Lady Queen of Peace and St. Gerald, Mayo Abbey on Thursday at 12pm.
The family have requested family flowers only, with donations in lieu to Mayo Roscommon Hospice.
