AHMEDABAD: World over, more than 800 million people go to sleep hungry every day. Even the $6 billion demanded of billionaires like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos by the World Food Programme can only help feed 42 million people for just about a year. But why wait for the wealthy to loosen their purse strings, when all it takes to share food with a fellow human is opening your heart? A few good Samaritans in the city have taken the ‘sharing is caring’ talk a step further by setting up community fridges to feed the hungry, thereby building a whole community of people who share their food with the rest of the world.
These fridges are installed in three different locations in the city – two in South Bopal and another on SG Highway. One more community fridge was installed in Satellite on Friday.
