Almost 13,000 Vic homes still off-grid after storms

Authorities say Victoria's outages were caused by power line damage and not a lack of energy supply. (Con Chronis/AAP PHOTOS)

Electricity workers in Victoria say 12,862 homes and businesses remain without power following storms that toppled trees and brought down powerlines on Tuesday.

Most properties without power are in Melbourne's outer east and northern areas, as well as the eastern and north-eastern part of Victoria, according to an update on Saturday.
