Committed to provide 10,000 jobs in 100 days: Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath

LUCKNOW: Directing the heads of different recruitment commissions and boards of the state to ensure providing jobs to more than 10,000 youths of the state in the next 100 days, CM Yogi Adityanath on Thursday advised them to make a timeline of job examinations and stick to it, reports Shailvee Sharda.

"The state government is committed to provide employment to the youths of the state. In this regard, the govt has directed all Services Selection Boards to provide jobs to more than 10,000 youths of the state in the next 100 days," the CM later tweeted.

Asserting that delays in the examination processes leads to harassment of applicants, Yogi said: "All recruitment processes should be completed within the planned schedule and results should not be delayed."

Speaking to heads of UP Public Service Commission, UP Subordinate Services Commission, UP Police Recruitment Board, Higher Education Service Selection Board and UP Secondary Education Service Selection Board, the CM said that various boards should prepare their examination calendar like Union Public Service Commission and UP State Public Service Commission to maximise opportunities for candidates and minimise duplications between UP and other state exams. To note, it is customary for various state boards to refer to the exam schedule-cum-calendar of other states before finalising their dates.

The CM also emphasised the need for using technology in conducting examinations to keep it free and fair. "Alternatives like online exam (like that of CAT or JEE), OPT based immediate download of question papers and computer-based exam, use of biometrics technology to verify the identity of candidates should be explored to minimise scope of manipulation," the CM said.

He also directed officials to engage sectoral experts and form a larger panel for interview of eligible candidates. Chief secretary Durga Prasad Mishra, additional chief secretaries, appointment and personnel, home, higher education and secondary education department were present at the meeting.

The CM also directed the officials to take additional precautions while selecting the agency for recruitment. He said that it would be better if all the departments coordinate with the state home department about steps like selection of agencies, designation of examination centres. He advocated the use of government schools and buildings for examination purposes while centres with tainted past should be black listed.

Experts are of the view that timeliness in examinations can also work to bring down unemployment in the state as many students keep waiting for the outcome. Timely announcement of results will bring the required clarity and speed up the churning of resources and opportunities.
