Week 3 is one the Washington Commanders would like to forget. Washington suffered a humiliating 37-3 defeat at the hands of the Buffalo Bills, dropping them to 2-1 on the season.
The Commanders turned the ball over nine times, converted just one third down and were sacked nine times. It wasn’t a good day for the offense. Washington’s offense managed just 54 total plays and possessed the ball for only 25 minutes.

Who played the most? Who should’ve played more? Here are Washington’s snap counts from Week 3.
Offense
- Sam Howell and the starting offensive line were the only ones to play 100% of the snaps.
- The most interesting aspect of the snap counts were the running backs: Antonio Gibson received 33 snaps, while Brian Robinson Jr. received 20 snaps. It’s likely that Gibson played more because the Commanders were behind, and he’s more impactful in the passing game. Robinson was Washington’s best offensive player on Sunday, and Gibson fumbled again. It’s certainly worth watching moving forward. I do believe what helps Gibson is that he’s better in pass protection.
- Jahan Dotson (51) received more snaps than Terry McLaurin (44). Curtis Samuel played 40 snaps, while Dyami Brown (12), Byron Pringle (6) and Jamison Crowder (1) also saw time.
- At tight end, John Bates and Cole Turner each played 31 snaps with Logan Thomas out.
Defense
- Kamren Curl, Darrick Forrest, Benjamin St-Juste and Cody Barton played every snap again. Kendall Fuller missed one snap.
- Rookie Emmanuel Forbes saw a decrease in his action, playing only 28 snaps.
- Safety Percy Butler continues to see a lot of time, participating in 65% of the defensive snaps.
- At defensive end, Chase Young led the way with 54 snaps, followed by Montez Sweat (49), James Smith-Williams (22) and Casey Toohill (11).
- At defensive tackle, Jonathan Allen (56) and Daron Payne (54) led the way, with John Ridgeway (20) and Abdullah Anderson (16) giving them a breather.
