The Washington Commanders returned to the practice field Wednesday for the first time since last Thursday’s ugly 40-20 loss to the Chicago Bears. The Commanders kicked off their preparations for the 3-2 Atlanta Falcons.
It’s been a tough week for injury news for the Commanders. On Monday, head coach Ron Rivera announced that starting safety Darrick Forrest and special-teams ace Jeremy Reaves were placed on injured reserve. Washington hopes Forrest’s injury keeps him on short-term IR, but a partially torn ACL could end Reaves’ season.
This led Washington to make multiple roster moves.
As the Commanders returned to the practice field Wednesday, two players missed practice: Tight end Curtis Hodges (illness) and cornerback Christian Holmes (hamstring).
Washington listed the following players as full participants:
- LT Charles Leno Jr: Finger
- DE Efe Obada: Knee
- WR Curtis Samuel: Finger
As for the Falcons, who are coming off a last-second win over the Texans, only one player missed practice, veteran defensive lineman Calais Campbell. Campbell received a rest day.
Atlanta listed the following players as limited participants:
- OLB Bud Dupree: Wrist
- OT Kaleb McGary: Knee
- TE Jonnu Smith: Ankle
Smith is Atlanta’s leading receiver so far in 2023.
